Financial Depression Is very Marked in New Foundland
St. Johns, N.F., Sept. 10. – The extreme financial depression is causing widespread popular unrest in St. Pierre and Miquelon. Owing to the collapse of the French cod fishery on the Grand banks, 23 firms are reported to be on the verge of collapse. The French government may be called on to provide sustenance for a considerable portion of the population.
