Christian Brothers Driven From St Pierre Arrive in Halifax.
Halifax, N.S., July 23. – Fifteen Christian Brothers from St. Pierre, Miquelon, who were obliged to close their schools and leave the islands as a result of the French law of associations, arrived at Sydney yesterday. The brothers were bound for Montreal and New york. Three weeks ago the Governor of the islands received a despatch from the Home Office instructing him to close the schools on the island.
